Ubuntu Linux
Install Ubuntu Linux
1.Why Ubuntu?
Ubuntu is the most popular free Linux and very easy to use.
We have an old laptop ( Toshiba Satellite A105-S4254 Genuine Intel® CPU T2050 @ 1.60GHz × 2 ) and it had been too slow with Windows even to just take a look the news from the Internet. It had been in the corner for a few years. I just had a try to put Ubuntu in it before throw it into trash and it works just great.
So if you feel your computer is too old, too slow, too many viruses, … then, simple, just switch to Ubuntu Linux. It’s free, and there are lots of software for Ubuntu to download also for free.
I once had Ubuntu 7.10, 8.04, 10.04, 11.10 installed. Currently I have Ubuntu 12.04 in it.
2. Which Ubuntu should I download? Ubuntu-Desktop-i386 or Ubuntu-Server-amd64?
i86 is for Intel core, Amd is for AMD core
The following link is the clarification about it for Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal)

Currently the newest version is Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin)
3.If I don’t have any software installed, how can I do?
I borrowed an old Ubuntu Book from Library and there is a very old version Ubuntu CD, I installed the CD and use it to download the current version, burned the CD, and installed it. Easy and also fast.
4. How can I know the CD is burned correctly?
If there is only one large file, then, it’s not correctly.
If there is Linux files and directories, then, it’s correctly burned.
